About Us

Lensa Diplomasi is a research institute that focuses on developing the study of public and cultural diplomacy and its variants in the midst of digital development. Not only working in the realm of research, Lensa Diplomasi also takes strategic steps in assisting the formulation and implementation of public diplomacy for some of our partner countries in Indonesia. We also strive to actively increase the capacity of individuals in carrying out a public and cultural diplomacy mission in order to convey a diplomatic message more effectively.

The milestone of the establishment of Lensa Diplomasi was initiated by the steps of Ruang Bahasa as one of the leading language service provider in Indonesia in assisting some of its partners from several countries in carrying out their public diplomacy missions in Indonesia. Moreover, Ruang Bahasa also cooperates with several educational institutions and campuses in conducting cultural exchange missions. One of them is the cooperation between Ruang Bahasa and Chulalongkorn University in dispatching dance communities in Indonesia to be able to perform at the annual cultural festival organized by the campus. Indeed, several Indonesian dance communities have successfully performed their dances at the festival.

Through the activities that have been organized, we realize that public diplomacy and cultural diplomacy activities are increasingly playing an important role in shaping global political relations between states and other civil society. Not only that, the issues addressed in public and cultural diplomacy are increasingly inclusive, opening up opportunities for community involvement. Lensa Diplomasi was established to be able to encourage the active engagement of the society in regard to issues of public and cultural diplomacy both within the framework of research and community development.

With our hope to be able to play an active role in bridging public and cultural diplomacy activities at the national, regional and global levels, Lensa Diplomasi has developed strategic steps that are poured into Four main programs, namely first; research and publication, second; public discussion, third; planning and implementation of public and cultural diplomacy activities, fourth; training and diplomacy capacity building by planning to initiate a “diplomacy school” for the younger generation to become ambassadors in advocating and campaigning for global issues.
